Stechelberg

It was a beautiful drive to Switzerland’s Lauterbrunnen Valley.

Switzerland didn’t join the European Union so they use Swiss Francs instead of Euros. So our first stop was in Interlaken to get some Swiss Francs.

Reminds Us Of Yosemite Near Our Home In California

The Lauterbrunnen Valley had lots of spectacular waterfalls, sheer cliffs and snow-capped peaks.  Reminds us of Yosemite near our home in Central California.  The difference in Switzerland is that some of the waterfalls fall into someone’s backyard or behind a business.  In Switzerland people actually live in the mountains…rather than just visit.

Frolicking Cows Say Moo! Horses Are Ambivalent

Lots of small farms with friendly people, horses, sheep and frolicking cows. We’d never seen cows frolic before, but Swiss cows are happy and playfully frolic in their pastures. Perhaps they frolic because they know how much they are loved. And the Swiss do love their cows!

It’s Snowing and We Don’t Care!

We walked through Mürren, down the trail to Grütschalp then took a gondola back down to Lauterbrunnen on the valley floor.

View from the gondola
The gang celebrating our hike in the mountains!
It was snowing but we were warm!

Snow Capped Peaks

It was cloudy when we were in the Lauterbrunnen Valley so each time the clouds parted we tried to get a glimpse of the high snow-capped peaks.

Small Things

We learned a lot from little things. Smiling about the hats that didn’t fit. Touching the tiny flowers in a Swiss meadow. Seeing the kindness of new friends.

Food Faves

OK…we knew we would enjoy great food on our trip.  What we didn’t know was the range of new tastes we would experience.  Share our yummiest surprises.

Europe by the Colors

Tour Europe by the colors. Amazing colors are everywhere.  Is there a more beautiful blue than the Mediterranean off the rocky coast of the Cinque Terra? Ah…there’s much more.

Puppy Pals

We missed our dog Jax, but we met lots of puppy pals everywhere we toured.  Is there a better way to meet people than admiring their pups? We don’t think so.
